Mens Suit Brands
In addition to my weekly blog I am now going to go out each week and pick a different brand of suit to try on and talk to various salesman about the pros's & con's of the suit. Then I will write my opinion on the suit brand for you to read about here on menssuitguide.com. Although you should keep in mind that what I write is merely my opinion and is not meant to nor should it in any way sway your decision to by suit brand either way. House Brand Suits
Most major retailers that sell mens suits will have their own house brand suit. Usually the prices will range from $300 - $99. House brand suits commonly come in either a two or three button style and are generally not built for every body type. Although the prices are on the lower end house brand suits are a great buy for the man who usually does not wear suits too often. For example the construction worker who only will put a suit on for a wedding or funeral once every blue moon. I have found that these suits do not hold up over time if they are worn on a weekly basis. So if you are in a position in which you will need to wear a suit more than four times a month I recommend spending a little more on a suit that will last in the long run. Ralph Lauren Suits
I tried on a few different suits made by Ralph Lauren over the weekend and was pleasantly surprised. The price ranged from $300 - $500 depending on the store I was in and style of the suit. I found that a Ralph Lauren suit is designed for men with broader shoulders, and as it comes in mostly a two button style they will fit larger men very well. In my opinion Ralph Lauren suits are a little on the conservative side. Which makes them perfect for Interviews or other business uses.
Jones New York
I looked at a few mens suits by Jones New York this weekend and I was impressed by the style of them. JNY suits come mostly in either a two or three button however there are a few double breasted that will pop up every now and then. Jones New York suits seem to be made to fit athletic cut men or men with broad shoulders and a smaller waist. The price on a on JNY suit will range from $150 - $400 depending on the store and suit style. Mens Jones New York suits are usually very stylish and tend have a youthful look to them. In my opinion they are great for men in their 20' to mid 30's. But it can be pulled off by anyone with an athletic build.
Tommy Hilfiger Suits
The other day I looked at a few suits by Tommy Hilfiger and I must say that I was not impressed. Unlike the casual clothes made by Tommy Hilfiger which usually meet my standards of decent quality, their suits fell way below the bar. Tommy Hilfiger suits look and feel just like a typical house brand suit except they have a fancier lining inside the coat and cost about twice as much. The price range is between $200 - $500 for a Tommy Hilfiger suit. You could get two house brand suits that will look almost identical and further maximize your wardrobe for the price of a Hilfiger suit. In my opinion these suits are not worth the money just because they have a brand name behind them. However you should check them out and decide for yourself.
Calvin Klein Suits
Mens Calvin Klein suits are perhaps one of my favorite brand of suits that I have come across yet. They are built for men with broader shoulders and tend to run a little longer than most other mens suit brands. Which make them perfect for taller men. The typical price on a mens Calvin Klein suit is around $500. In my opinion the quality more than meets my standards. Plus Calvin Klein suits have a great sense of style to them, coming in either a two or three button and usually with a side or double vent. You can not go wrong with a Calvin Klien suit.
Michael Kors Suits
Michael Kors suits are considered to be a fashion suits that fits men that have a athletic build. With the side vents and tapered body style Michael Kors suits are perfect for the younger man. These mens suits are made of nice fabric and have a nice quality to them. The price on a Michael Kors suit will range from $169.99 - $499.99 depending on the store and style of the suit. I would recommend this suit as a good buy.
